Confucius Institute for Innovation and Learning at Aalborg University

It gives us great pleasure to inform our members about the opening of Confucius Institute for Innovation and Learning at Aalborg University (AAU), also a Danish-Chinese Business Forum member.

Binglin Zhong, president of Beijing Normal University, unveiled the bronze plate for the
Confucius Institute for Innovation and Learning, accompanied by Finn Kjærsdam, president of Aalborg University, Hangsheng Xie, ambassador of China to Denmark and Xiangyun Du, director of Confucius Institute in Utzon Center, Aalborg, Denmark.

This is the second Confucius Institute to be established in Denmark, and as such, it is yet another bridge of friendship and mutual understanding between Danish and Chinese cultures.

Confucius Institute is the result of Aalborg University’s collaboration with Beijing Normal University and Hanban, the Chinese Ministry of Education. The institute, which was inaugurated on 18 September 2009, is going to serve as a point of synergy for the current resources and will strive to further enhance the cooperation between AAU and its Chinese partners through a range of educational and cultural exchange activities. 

According to the CI’s Director, Xiangyun Du, the focus of the new institution in the beginning is going to be on the Chinese language and educational cooperation. The long-term plans include collaboration between AAU and North Denmark with China in diverse areas related to innovation.
