Company Description

With a legacy of innovation that began in 1917 when founder Einar Viggo Schou invented the modern plant-based food emulsifier, today Palsgaard has become a global leader in plant-based emulsifiers and stabilizers.

Palsgaard’s products are mainly used by manufacturers in the bakery, confectionery, condiments, dairy, ice cream, margarine, and plant-based sectors to enhance product quality, taste, mouthfeel, texture, and shelf life. The company also supports the development of healthier foods with cleaner labels, improved nutritional profiles, and lower resource consumption.

With seven application centres worldwide, Palsgaard’s team of experienced food technologists works closely with customers to optimize existing recipes and develop new products that meet changing consumer expectations and regulatory demands. All products are offered as RSPO SG certified, and production facilities in Denmark, the Netherlands, Mexico, Brazil, China, and Malaysia are operated with a strong focus on energy efficiency and CO₂ emissions reduction.

Palsgaard’s expertise extends beyond food. Its emulsifiers also function as plant-based polymer additives, providing sustainable alternatives to conventional chemical additives. These additives deliver anti-static and anti-fog performance, helping improve packaging appearance, extend shelf life, and reduce food waste.

Owned by the Schou Foundation, Palsgaard employs more than 690 people across 18 countries. In 2023, the company reported a turnover of 300 million euros, with products sold in more than 120 countries.
