New Danish Business Outlook on China for Q4, 2021
China as a location for procurement/supplies deteriorated compared with last quarter but overall, the short-term outlook of Danish companies has slightly improved and ended close to index 50 (positive/negative trends matched). The market for R&D, manufacturing and sales are all positive with China as a ‘market for sales’ having the most positive outlook.
Looking at individual sectors, only Environment & Water – although deteriorating compared with the previous quarter – is still viewed with a positive outlook (index above 50). Energy also deteriorated but went below index 50. Health/Life Science, Logistics/Maritime, Agriculture/Food and Design/Lifestyle all improved their index rating compared with last quarter but are still on or below - but close to - index 50.
Respondents based in China are now again having a more positive short-term outlook for China compared with respondents based in Denmark.
The DBOC index is a joint initiative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing, the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China (DCCC), the Danish-Chinese Business Forum (DCBF) and the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research (SDC).
We thank the companies that support the initiative and invite everyone interested in China to stay tuned for the coming quarterly updates.
