The second session in China Macro Groups 'Sector Dialogues' webinar series, Markus Hermann Chen, Co-Founder and Managing Director of China Macro Group, will be in conversation with esteemed guest Mr. David Bo, Independent Director of Zijin Mining, Asia Potash, and Lingbao Gold.
As global competition intensifies over critical minerals, the race to secure stable and diversified supply is rapidly reshaping the industry—redefining investment strategies, supply chain configurations, and international partnerships.

In this webinar, Mr. David Bo will share insights from both policy and industry perspectives, exploring:
Mr. David Bo has over 30 years of experience in mining and oil & gas, beginning his career at PetroChina before joining the Ivanhoe group in 1996, where he held various managerial roles, including General Manager of Business Development at Ivanhoe Capital Corporation. For almost three decades, Danish companies have run production in China through subsidiaries that have been and are relying on updates and direction from their headquarters in Denmark with respect to technology and software updates. But now, Chinese players in AI, software and automation are increasingly recognized as being among the global leaders. Locally in China, Chinese competitors of the Danish subsidiaries are free to leverage these cutting-edge technologies, and they used them to set up automated 'dark factories' and integrate large language models like DeepSeeks and Qwen into their tech stack.
At the meeting, we discuss China's evolving AI ecosystem, the consequences of China's growing industrial AI adoptin and explore potential consequences for Danish subsidiaries in China.
Topics include:
The programme includes a presentation by Roman Jurowetzki followed by a panel discussion with Bent Dalager, Partner, KPMG.
The meeting will cover China’s evolving AI ecosystem and the growing role of industrial AI adoption. Examining how Chinese companies are increasingly driven by a management focus on speed and trial-and-error approaches, including the use of “vibe coding” principles and methods to support AI integration. Roman will also discuss how these developments may contribute to productivity gains and enhanced competitiveness.
The discussion seeks to explore the practical realities surrounding the strategic choices Danish and international subsidiaries make regarding whether to adopt the Chinese tech stack in their operations, as well as the key considerations shaping these decisions.

The recent investigation of consulting and advisory firms, appearing to be part of an anti-spy campaign, have unsettled the foreign business community in the country and hit the Western media headlines. In this engaging 1-hour webinar we will provide insights around the new law and suggestions from both macro and micro perspectives on foreign business in China. At the end of the webinar, there will be a live Q&A, that will give you the opportunity to ask more in-depth questions.

The EU-China Business Association, BusinessEurope and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China are pleased to invite you to join this hybrid conference of the European Chamber’s annual Business Confidence Survey, where Mr Jens Eskelund, European Chamber President, will share the key findings of this year’s survey outlining European business sentiment in China.
Venue
Online and Adenauer Room, BusinessEurope, Avenue de Cortenbergh 168, 1000 Brussels
Background
Since China ended its ‘zero-COVID’ strategy, Chinese officials have been on a charm offensive in an attempt to restore the country’s allure as an investment destination. However, more will need to be done if China is to successfully reverse the deterioration of business sentiment that has taken place over the past three years.
European companies have already begun shifting investments overseas and, faced with growing risks and a more volatile operating environment, many have adjusted their investment and operational strategies. There is now an increased focus on making operations more durable — for example, through localisation or diversification of supply chains — as opposed to capturing market share. With China’s economy facing numerous headwinds, this trend appears set to continue at least into the medium-term.
Agenda
14h30-15h00: Registration and networking
15h00-15h05: Welcome and introduction
Mrs Luisa Santos, Deputy Director General, BusinessEurope
15h05-15h15: Opening remarks

China has most recently sailed up to a top position within FDI. But how are Danish MNCs handling M&As in China and what differentiates the Chinese market from other markets? How are the targets localized and what advantages are there versus organic growth? What are the most common pitfalls and difficulties and what attracts a Chinese mid-market company to sell to a Danish corporate? How does the IPO vs M&A trend look like in the Chinese market?
