In mid-October, a high-level medical delegation from Hainan, China, paid a visit to Denmark headed by Ms. Xie Jing, Vice Governor of Hainan Province. As part of the visit, the Hainan Promotion Conference was held on October 12.

Secretary General of DCBF, Hans Henrik Pontoppidan gave a short speech at the conference expressing DCBF’s support for fast-track market entry for Danish Life Science SMEs which the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone offers.

Not only is the Chinese market for medical devices and medicines the second largest globally, but China is also Denmark’s second largest export market within Life Science/Health, which reflects the demand for Danish expertise within high-quality health services, innovative medical products, and solutions.

The initiative offers an interesting alternative market entry model for Danish SMEs to gain market access via Hainan Province, where they can utilize the preferential policies to acquire market insights and valuable experience. This strategy is both a safer and more cost-conscious way of exploring the market opportunities that may ultimately accelerate your business in China and act as a launch pad to the rest of mainland China.

Finally, the conference was concluded with an official signing ceremony, where a Strategic Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Danish Life Science Cluster, Nordic Life Science Partners, and the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration.

The agreement marks the continuation of Sino-Danish collaboration with the goal of easing market entry to China for Danish Life Science companies.
